PD & Curriculum Intern – STEM Education Works

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy intern to join our team, focusing on curriculum development and professional development for STEM education. In this role, you will assist in designing engaging lesson plans, preparing instructional materials, and supporting the delivery of professional development workshops. You’ll contribute to cutting-edge projects, while also conducting research on emerging trends in STEM education. This position is ideal for someone passionate about education, organized, and eager to make a positive impact on both students and educators.
Job Functions
- Assist in editing lesson plans, activities, and resources. Including researching and aligning standards to created lessons.
- Help with researching and integrating new technologies and methodologies into curriculum content.
- Prototype and test activities to ensure they work well and align with the intended learning outcomes.
- Help create engaging content for presentations and webinars
- Gather feedback from educators and students to assist in informed improvements to curriculum content and PD sessions
- Stay updated on trends in STEM education, instructional technology, and professional development practices.
Desired Skills and Qualities
- Strong Communication Skills – Effective at explaining concepts and engaging with educators and students.
- Passion for Education – Ideally someone who is interested in STEM education and is eager to inspire students and teachers.
- Tech-Savvy – Comfortable with digital tools, educational technology, and possibly block coding.
- Organization and Time Management – Able to juggle multiple tasks and keep track of project details. Creativity and Problem Solving – Innovative in designing engaging activities and lessons, with a knack for troubleshooting and improving content.
Potential Projects
- Create a Mini-Lesson Series: Have the intern develop a series of mini-lessons or activity cards for a specific grade level.
- Design a PD Workshop: Task the intern with creating a mock professional development session, including presentation slides and an activity outline.
- Conduct Research on Emerging Trends: Ask them to investigate new trends in STEM education or professional development.
- Build a Resource Library: Let them compile and organize resources for both curriculum and professional development to streamline future projects.
